IN MEMORY OF OUR FORMER PRINCIPAL, MS. IP WAI‐CHING

It is with great sorrow to learn this morning that Principal Ip passed away yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time of their loss.

Principal Ip was wholeheartedly dedicated to her career in education for almost 40 years. She was always a kind, caring and respectful principal to her students.

Serving as the head of the school since 2015, Principal Ip led YLMASS to always strengthen ourselves and strive for continuous improvement to move forward in the ever‐changing world. She emphasized on students’ whole‐person education, aiming at building their self‐ confidence, perseverance and team spirit with pleasurable learning. In order to cultivate positive values and attitudes towards life among students, she promoted the ‘Seven Good Habits’ from Stephen R. Covey’s ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’. She also encouraged students to engage in different kinds of competitions, social services and exchange programmes to enrich their learning experiences. Committed to the Quality School In Hong Kong Project by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, she led the school to strengthen teachers’ professional capacity as well as foster continuous and effective school improvement so as to nurture our students into ambitious, responsible future generations with a caring heart for the society. With her active engagement in various professional development and exchange activities as well as her thirst in life‐long learning, she is always the role model for all of us.

Principal Ip’s speech at the end of the school’s 40th Anniversary Variety Show held in the last school year of her service is still a vivid memory to many of us. She demonstrated her enthusiasm, determination and excitement, inspiring all the students, parents and guests. Sadly, she is now lost to us all.

Principal Ip’s selfless contribution to YLMASS has always been greatly appreciated. She will always be missed.
